Goldena LaCosse Giacomini, 94, of North Branford, CT formerly of West Haven, CT beloved wife of 32 years to the late Ralph “Jackie” Giacomini, passed away at her daughter’s home, where she resided for the last 17 years, on January 3, 2026 surrounded by her family. Loving mother of Michelle Dattilo of North Branford, CT and Kim Youngblood of Pell City, AL. Grandmother of Michael (Lisa) Dattilo, Mariea Sipes, Ronnie (Starr) Ferguson, David and Lauren Ferraiuolo, Andrew (Miriuska) Youngblood and the late John Youngblood. Great grandmother of Dominic Sipes, Jeramy Serrano, Lauren and Jaleigh Ferguson, Michael and Jaymie Dattilo and Liviana and Alanna Carter. Sister of Mae Burzynski of Watertown and the late Cindy Miller, Dorothy Elliot, Gloria Miranda, Marie Baiocchi, Louise Corriveau, Leona LaCosse and Richard, Arty, Louis and Lester LaCosse. Daughter-in-law of the late Hector and Angelina Giacomini. She was born in Hamden on January 22, 1931 daughter of the late Louis J. and Lillien Tellor LaCosse. Goldena loved to travel with her husband and loved to crochet, proudly handcrafting blankets for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, spending time at a cabin in Maine, gardening and reading. She was a great cook and baker and always took great pride in her appearance, having her nails freshly manicured and hair never out of place with her signature pink lipstick! A special thank you to Gianna Comfort and Jeramy Serrano for their dedicated care and the Hospice nurses, Gabby, Janet and team, for their compassion. Also, Lauren for always being there through this difficult time.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, CT SATURDAY morning, January 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
