13-Year-Old Boy Shot And Killed In Ensley

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 13-year-old child died Tuesday night in a shooting in Ensley. Jeremiah Pruitt was shot just after 9 p.m. while in the front yard of a residence in the 1500 block of 51st Street.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said the child was taken to Children's of Alabama where he was later pronounced dead.

Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was accidental, and police had no further details in the case.
