2 Girls, Ages 12 And 14, Shot In Ensley

Two girls were injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in west Birmingham, police said.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two girls, aged 12 and 14, were shot in Ensley Monday afternoon on Valley Place Road. The shooting occurred just after 4 p.m.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said both girls were in a vehicle that was traveling to the 4800 block of Court I when shots were fired. Mauldin said the 14-year-old girl was struck in the lower back, while the 12 -year-old girl was grazed by a bullet.

Both girls were taken to Children's of Alabama.
