- In partnership with Birmingham City Schools and Ed Farm, Bush Hills STEAM Academy will now house the latest Ed Farm Space, which is a transformative learning program. Bush Hills Academy welcomed a variety of local leaders last week to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new space. The program will focus on using advanced tools to help students gain crucial skill sets, experiment with disruptive technologies, and expand their creativity. (Birmingham Times)
- On Friday, May 12, 63-year-old George Williams Jr. of the Fountain Heights community was gunned down on his front porch. According to Jefferson County officials, the shooting happened as a result of a family member or close friend engaging in an argument at a different location. The suspects followed that family member or friend to the victim's North Birmingham house. This deadly shooting was Birmingham's third to happen within a span of 24 hours. (AL.com)
- The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing has partnered with Bibb Medical Center to expand its mental health care services. There will now be two psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners available at the Centreville clinic to see patients and talk through some of the issues they're dealing with. Bibb Medical Center's CEO Joseph Marchant says there is a significant need for behavioral health care within the community. (UAB News)

- Alabama Adventure and Splash Adventure officially celebrated yet another year opening, which marks the tenth year since first opening their doors. The park will be offering a variety of free perks, including free parking, soft drinks, tubes for the water rides, lifejackets, and also free shows like the All-American Dive Show and Aqua-Batic Stunt Show. - The National Weather Service is expecting an uptick in rain showers and storms this week throughout the Birmingham area and Central Alabama. Chances of rain are expected to increase again heading into next weekend, but by the end of this week, there will be a slight drop in humidity. Temperatures will remain relatively high throughout the week, but are also likely going to drop back down by Sunday morning. (WVTM)
