Armed Man On UAB Campus: Weapon Secured, Suspect Still At Large
A man with a gun was seen on UAB's campus Monday morning, although police say he fled the campus just before noon.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An armed man was spotted on the UAB campus Monday morning, as students and staff sheltered in place until the man fled the campus.
UAB police reported that they secured the weapon in question but the man seen with the gun is still at large.
"UAB Police pursued a suspect this morning who fled on foot after dropping a weapon in UAB Hospital," UAB officials sad in a release Monday. "The weapon has been secured, and police believe there is no threat to campus at this time."

Police said the suspect was last seen heading north, away from UAB, on 18th street toward downtown. The suspect is a black male, 5-foot-7 inches, 200 pounds, in a brown shirt with a long black shirt underneath, black pants and white tennis shoes.
