Arrest Made In Sunday Homicide In Birmingham

Birmingham PD detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the Dec. 5 death of David Desmond.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 24-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested and charged with murder in the Dec. 5 death of David Desmond. The fatal shooting occurred in the 400 block of Fulton Avenue Southwest.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said Desmond was shot in the roadway and a suspect, later identified as Daminyae Montreze Harris, was seen fleeing the area into a nearby residence.

"Officers surrounded a residence in the 400 block of Fulton Street Southwest where they were able to take the suspect into custody free of any incident," Fitzgerald said.

Harris is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on $150,000 bond.
