Birmingham Area School Districts Rank Among Best In State

Five of Alabama's top 10 school districts are in the Birmingham metro region, according to new rankings released this month by Niche.com. The No.1 school district in the state is the Mountain Brook city school system.

The new rankings are a part of the website's 2020 K-12 rankings, which includes schools and school districts.

Each Alabama district received a letter grade in the following categories: academics; diversity; teachers; college prep; clubs & activities; health & safety; administration; sports; food; and resources & facilities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology.)
