Birmingham Area Teachers Honored By Alexander Shunnarah

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Alabama attorney Alexander Shunnarah, known for his billboards that adorn the state's roadways, honored six Birmingham-area teachers by sharing one of his famous billboards with them, as they were named Teacher of the Month.

Every month, Alexander Shunnarah celebrates five teachers across the U.S. and gives them a $500 American Express gift card and displays their photo on an Alexander Shunnarah digital billboard for a day.

Teachers from the Birmingham metro that received the honor include:

• Crystal Drake - Birmingham
• Music Teacher at Glen Iris Elementary School
• Joseph Rhodes - Pinson
• 8th grade Math Teacher at Rudd Middle School
• Feavai Thomas - Birmingham
• 3rd grade Teacher at Minor Elementary School
• Alexis Montgomery - Birmingham
• Math Teacher at Woodlawn High School
• Jacob Roop - Alabaster
• 11th grade English Teacher at Thompson High School
• Willie Davis - Bessemer
• 3rd grade Teacher at Charles F. Hard Elementary School

Since the initiative began in September 2019, Shunnarah's firm has received thousands of submissions of deserving teachers who are making a difference. This year, Shunnarah expanded and increased the initiative to reach and celebrate more deserving teachers across the country.
