Birmingham Man Charged In Shooting Death Of 2-Year-Old Boy

Police have made an arrest in the 2021 shooting death of 2-year-old Major Turner.

BIRMINGHAM, AL —An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy exactly a year after his death. Police arrested 24-year-old Clearence Speed Thursday and charged him with murder in the 2021 death of Major Turner.

Major Turner was in his home with is mother in the Kimbrough Homes Housing Community in Birmingham Feb. 4, 2021 when shots were fired into the home, killing the child and injuring his mother.

During the investigation into Major Turner’s murder, Birmingham Police Homicide

detectives identified Speed as a suspect. Speed was taken into custody Thursday and charged with murder, and he is being held in Jefferson County Jail on $1.5 million bond.
