Birmingham Police Officer Breaks Arm In Scuffle
A Birmingham police officer Thursday night broke his arm during a fight with a man who police believe was intoxicated.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham police officer was injured on duty while in a scuffle with a man police say was intoxicated. The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. at the Circle K location on Montclair Road.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said a man identified as Thomas Ward approached the officer "in an aggressive manner," and pushed the officer. The two men fought briefly after the officer tried to arrest Ward.
The officer suffered a broken arm, Mauldin said. Ward is being held at Birmingham Jail pending charges.
