- A Birmingham pilot recently completed his 100th flight for Veterans Airlift Command. Dave Wood is a passionate pilot and military veteran who has found a way to combine his love of flying with his strong sense of patriotism by flying injured veterans for free through the volunteer network Veterans Airlift Command. He recently achieved the milestone of flying 100 veterans throughout the country, and he plans to continue as long as he can. Wood sees his work as a personal ministry, and he takes great pride in helping these heroes who have sacrificed so much. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- Beginning in the fall of 2023, undergraduate business students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business will have access to a new scholarship program aimed at providing life-changing international experiences. The Global Business Blazers scholarship program offers $1,000 to new undergraduate business majors to cover the cost of UAB-sponsored education abroad programs. The scholarship may be applied to any UAB-sponsored education abroad program and, while it will not fund the entire cost of a program, students will receive guidance on developing individual savings plans.
