- The City of Birmingham is holding a supply drive until Thursday to help victims in Selma. Last week, a tornado brought devastation to Selma — now, Birmingham is springing into action by setting a goal to fill up as many trailers as possible to help assist those in need, according to Operations Manager for Birmingham Don Lupo. The supply drive is taking place at the Boutwell Auditorium now through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- A new sci-fi film is seeking extras in Birmingham! Filming for "The Shift," written and directed by filmmaker Brock Heasley, will begin on Jan. 30 and continue through Mar. 3. According to casting director Michael Wyrosdick, the film will require several hundred extras. You can apply to be an extra here. (Bham Now)
- On Tuesday, Birmingham’s Pack Health announced its plans to expand and hire over 200 people. The Birmingham-based company's expansion will come with a $5.66 million price tag and is expected to add another 200 full-time jobs. According to the Birmingham Business Alliance, the expansion could "have an overall economic impact of up to $27 million over 20 years." (AL.com)
