City Of Birmingham: Mayor Woodfin Announces Executive Leadership Team For Second Term
All appointments become effective Nov. 23.

Birmingham, AL – Mayor Randall L. Woodfin has announced appointments for the city’s leadership in his second term which will begin November 23, 2021.
Mayor Woodfin has reappointed Chief of Staff Cedric Sparks and Senior Advisor and Chief Strategist Ed Fields. Kevin Moore, who currently serves as Chief of Operations, will move into the role of Chief Financial Officer. Current Deputy Chief of Operations Chaz Mitchell will become Chief of Operations. As previously announced, Melissa Smiley has been appointed Chief Accountability Officer. All appointments will become effective November 23.

Sparks, Fields, Moore, Mitchell and Smiley currently serve on the mayor’s executive leadership team. Additional members of the team have been reappointed including Mayor Woodfin’s Executive Administrator Sylvia Bowen, Senior Director of Governmental Affairs Earl Hilliard, Jr., Director of Communications Rick Journey, City Attorney Nicole King and Chief Human Resources Officer Jill Madajczyk. Kelvin Datcher will serve as Senior Advisor to Special Projects. Chanda Temple, who currently serves as Public Information Officer, will serve as
Senior Project Manager.
In keeping with Mayor Woodfin’s commitment to inclusiveness, more than 40% of the overall appointed leadership in the city – including Senior Directors, Directors and Deputy Directors – are women.
