A 26-year-old Cordova man punched a Sheriff’s Office K-9 after the dog tracked him down, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
About 5 p.m. on March 1, deputies responded to a call for assistance from Adamsville Police. An officer had conducted a traffic stop on Highway 78 near the Walmart in Adamsville. The driver, 26-year-old Zachary Hunt of Cordova, was found to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest, deputies said. When the officer attempted to arrest Hunt, he fought with the officer and fled on foot into a wooded area nearby.
Deputies and a K-9 unit responded to assist in locating and arresting Hunt. The K-9 tracked Hunt into the woods and found him. Hunt began to kick and punch the dog. The K-9 held his ground and Hunt was taken into custody.
