Death Investigation At Avondale Park: Police On Scene

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are on the scene at Avondale Park Wednesday morning conducting a death investigation.

Police said a man was found shot to death on a bench in the park around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the preliminary investigation suggests this was a homicide, but police will need to wait on the autopsy report. The victim's name has not been released.
