  1. Next week, the city of Birmingham will be hosting a free mom's night out event. The city has teamed up with The Penny Foundation to celebrate and honor mothers with its "Embrace Mothers Mom’s Night Out" event. The celebration, which features a film screening of "Waiting to Exhale," will take place at the Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema on Monday, Jan. 30. (WBRC)
  2. During their latest principals' meeting, Jefferson County Schools principals were trained to administer Narcan. The training, hosted by the Jefferson County Department of Health, adds "another layer of safety to school hallways, as they always want to be as prepared as possible," Hueytown High School Principal Ryan Howard said. Among JeffCoEd’s staff, student resource officers, nurses, and principals are all trained to administer Narcan in an emergency. (WBRC)
  3. A two-vehicle crash took the life of a 26-year-old woman this weekend in Birmingham. The victim was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Jasmine Shardia Moore, who was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with another car on Second Avenue North and Ninth Street North at 1:38 a.m. on Saturday. The investigation is ongoing. (AL.com)
