Georgia vs. Alabama For College Football Title: How To Watch
The SEC rivals meet in Monday night's College Football Playoff National Championship as the Tide look to win back-to-back titles.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — There is a college football cliché —perhaps one with some truth — that it's difficult to beat a team twice in the same season.
After all, the team that loses the first game enters the rematch looking for revenge and supposedly better prepared to counter what its opponent did well the first time around.
The theory will be put to the test Monday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis as No. 1 Alabama (13-1) faces No. 3 Georgia (13-1) in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Central.

On Dec. 4, the Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs 41-24 in the SEC Championship game. Georgia had entered that contest undefeated and ranked as the No. 1 team in the country. But Alabama sophomore quarterback Bryce Young starred against Georgia's highly-touted defense, throwing for 421 yards in a performance that helped him win the Heisman Trophy a week later.
Georgia players have called that game a wake-up call and no doubt will have revenge on their minds against the Crimson Tide.

But Alabama players and coaches aren't necessarily buying into the old "difficult to beat a team twice" cliché
"I don't think it's tough having to play somebody twice," Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Pete Golding told the Associated Press. "I mean, I know everybody talks about that and all that. But if you look at the NFL, you're playing everybody in your division twice."
Of course, the Tide have all to play for, as well. Alabama is looking to win back-to-back national titles for the second time under head coach Nick Saban. The Tide defeated Ohio State 52-24 in last year's championship game.
A win would bring Alabama's 13th national title in college football's poll era (which began in 1936), and seventh in the last 13 years.
Georgia, meanwhile, last captured a national title in 1980.
Alabama reached Monday night's contest with a 27-6 win over Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl, the CFP semifinal, on New Year's Eve. Georgia, which is coached by longtime Saban assistant Kirby Smart, defeated Michigan 34-11 in the Orange Bowl later that evening.
Like in the semifinal, Alabama will be without one of its top offensive weapons, junior receiver John Metchie III, who suffered a torn ACL in the SEC Championship Game.
Once again, Young will have to rely heavily on junior receiver Jameson Williams, an Ohio State transfer, and other pass catchers like: freshman Ja'Corey Brooks, junior Slade Bolden and junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley.
"Metchie is someone you just can't replace," Young said earlier this week. "Losing Metchie was huge for us. That definitely hurt. It's really tough. But as coach is always saying, that creates opportunity for other people and we've had people step up in the wake of that."
