Human Remains Found In Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after human remains that appeared to be have been buried were found in the western part of the county.

Deputies responded to Shady Grove Road near the Village Creek Bridge late Thursday afternoon after some people walking in the area called to report finding the remains.

The sheriff's office responded to the area and found "what appeared to be human remains protruding from the ground," a statement said.

The coroner's office was notified. No further details were available.

The area is expected to be excavated on Friday.
