Birmingham Police Officer Shot At The Quest, Armed Man Identified
The identities of an off-duty police officer and an armed suspect who were both injured at The Quest nightclub Saturday have been revealed.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An off-duty Birmingham police officer who was shot in the foot while working security at The Quest nightclub early Saturday morning has been identified. Authorities also identified the man accused of shooting the officer.
Police say Officer Darius Gamble reported to the Quest to work security when he was informed that a man was inside the club with a gun. Gamble and the armed man, 27-year-old Robert William Lee of Pleasant Grove, were involved in a struggle when Gamble tried to take the gun from Lee, police said.
Gamble was shot in the foot, and Lee was also wounded, but the preliminary investigation indicated that Gamble did not fire his weapon.

Gamble and Lee were taken to UAB Hospital where both are expected to recover from their injuries.

Lee has been charged with aggravated assault on police officer and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will investigate the incident.
