- On Sunday afternoon, a 56-year-old man was killed by an Amtrak train outside of Birmingham. According to reports from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the man was driving his car at the corner of Avenue A and 5th Street South in nearby Lipscomb when he was struck by a train. He was the only person in the car at the time of the accident. Police are investigating the crash. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- Birmingham residents in need of a job can browse more than 21,000 local job openings thanks to Bham Now. Right now, there are six job openings for each available candidate in Greater Birmingham. Available positions include a digital content coordinator at United Way of Central Alabama, a software engineer at Pack Health, and a licensed veterinary technician at Alabama Spay/Neuter. (Bham Now)
- A house fire caused serious injuries to one man on Sunday afternoon. At around 1:15 p.m., emergency services received a call regarding a house fire in the 1100 block of Cotton Avenue. Firefighters found an unresponsive man inside the home and rushed him to UAB Hospital in critical condition. The cause of the fire is now being investigated. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
