Phony Lyft Driver Accused Of Sexual Assault
Birmingham police have arrested a man they say posed as a Lyft driver and then sexually assaulted a female passenger.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man police say posed as a Lyft driver and sexually assaulted a passenger has been charged with rape, sodomy and kidnapping.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said 40-year-old Cardallle Bruce Osby in October of 2021 posed as a Lyft driver and picked up a woman as a passenger, and took her to an apartment in east Birmingham where he held her against her will and sexually assaulted her.
Osby was arrested by Hoover police Jan. 20 during a traffic stop, and is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail where he is held on $180,000 bond.
