Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Jefferson, Shelby Counties
The watch is in effect for northern portions of central Alabama.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for several Alabama counties, including Jefferson and Shelby counties, the National Weather Service said.
The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. central time on Saturday.
The NWS said there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms that could produce quarter sized hail and damaging winds through the evening along and north of the line from Pickens to Lee County.

The NWS also said storms south of the line cannot be ruled out.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 74. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
