Arrest Made In Fatal East Birmingham Shooting: Police
Police arrested Reginald Lamar Bonner, 40, who had previously been released from federal prison in 2019.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Shell gas station in East Birmingham, police said. On Monday, Birmingham police said Reginald Bonner, is facing murder and attempted murder charges.
In a news release, Birmingham police said investigators believe Bonner exited the store Friday evening and stood outside the store. The victim, named as 45-year-old Daryl Eugene Cross, "walked up and stood alongside the victim."
"Shortly after," the statement continues, "the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene on foot. Detectives have not established a clear motive."

The Birmingham News reports that Bonner was charged with murder in 2006, but the case was ultimately dropped. In 2017, Bonner and two other men were indicted on federal charges for illegal possession of firearms. Bonner was convicted and sentenced to 33 months. He was released from federal prison in December 2019.
Bonner is currently in custody in the Jefferson County Jail. He is being held without bond.
