Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. The weather this weekend will be a rollercoaster ride. This morning features temperatures in the mid-20s, and by early next week, highs are expected to be in the 80s. The rain of this week will subside to cooler, drier weather on Saturday and Sunday. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. One man is receiving treatment at UAB Hospital after a shooting on Thursday afternoon. According to police, the shooting took place just after 1:30 p.m. in the area of 33rd Street and 33rd Avenue North. As of Friday evening, the severity of the man's injury is not yet available. (AL.com)
  3. A man has been charged and arrested after a deadly DUI accident. According to authorities, the man was driving under the influence of alcohol on Elton B. Stephens Expressway North at the Highway 31 exit ramp. There, he struck a woman who had been stranded on the side of the road after her car broke down. (WBRC)
