Woman Killed In North Birmingham Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 30-year-old woman was shot and killed early Sunday morning in north Birmingham. The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue North.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said Shot Spotter alerted officers to the scene after 10 rounds were fired. Police found the victim, identified as Donnika Renee Sills of Birmingham, dead on the scene.

Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was the result of an altercation between Sills and an unidentified shooter.
