  1. There's lots of infrastructure projects to look forward to in Mountain Brook this year, including improvements to drainage, a sewer project in Mountain Brook Village and at least four sidewalk projects. The old Shades Valley Presbyterian Church has also been rezoned to make way for condos and garden homes. Read about these projects and more! (Village Living)

The 56-year-old group Friends of O'Neal Library is set to be presented with the Tynes Award for 2023 in recognition of its continuing service for the library, including holding an annual book sale. The award takes its name from William “Bill” Tynes Jr., who previously served on the Mountain Brook City Council and on the Library Board from 2000 to 2008. (Village Living)
  3. Zoës Kitchen has closed its location in Mountain Brook's Crestline Village. It's the restaurants third location to close last year, including ones in Homewood and Brook Highland. (Bham Now)
  4. Birmingham saw its first homicide of the new year on Monday, Jan. 2. The victim was identified as a 27-year-old man. (WBRC 6)
