  1. Texas-based artist Erika Huddleston, who is one of Texas Monthly's “Top Ten Artists to Collect Now,” is currently painting Mountain Brook's own Jemison Trail. Huddleston is creating 10-15 oil paintings at different points along the trail and will host a show on Jul. 20 to display the paintings and have them up for sale. A portion of proceeds from the Jemison Trail paintings will go towards Friends of the Trail, in celebration of what they do for the area. (Village Living)
  2. The annual Mason Music Festival is making its return this month on Saturday, Jul. 29. The festival will take place at Avondale Brewing Company and feature a lineup of national, regional, and local artists, plus a variety of food trucks and vendors. General admission tickets cost $49, with 100 percent of proceeds going toward the Mason Music Foundation. Grab tickets and view the lineup here. (Village Living)
  3. Colby Jones, a former Mountain Brook High School basketball player, was recently added to the Sacramento Kings' team. The Sacramento Kings traded up four spots in the second round of the NBA draft to eventually take Jones, who was known for his passing, rebounding, and defense in high school before improving his shooting game senior year.
