MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Birmingham Zoo has been awarded a grant from the Environmental Protection agency that will go to support the zoo's efforts in education. The $91,000 grant was one of 36 awarded under the EPA's Environmental Education Grants program.
The grant will fund a two-year Water Investigations Project within its ZooSchool program. ZooSchool offers hands-on E-STEM training at no cost to certain public school students and teachers.
The EPA distributes anywhere between $2 and $4 million each year in support of environmental education. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Birmingham Patch morning newsletter.)
