- At the latest City Council meeting, Mountain Brook leaders discussed the need for paving work on Lane Park Road near the Botanical Gardens, which is technically located in Birmingham, but they said is heavily used by Mountain Brook residents. The neighboring city has not done a good job maintaining it, they said, considering whether to take action. In other news, Mountain Brook is in line for Tree City USA recognition. - Two Mountain Brook residents, Catherine Romero and her friend Heidi Hallman, have started a new business preserving couples' wedding flowers by encasing them in artistic shapes. They've so far pressed flowers from 20 ceremonies. (Over The Mountain Journal)
- Hoover's police department has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, after first enrolling to receive it 3 1/2 years ago in 2019. It's an achievement that just 5 percent of law enforcement agencies nationwide have received and involves meeting 180 "internationally accepted standards for law enforcement work." (Village Living)
- Mountain Brook is sharing the $2.7 million cost of building a new path in Jamison Trail with Friends of Jemison Park. Work should be finished by the end of 2024. (Over The Mountain Journal)
