Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:

1. Mountain Brook's school superintendent is the 10th-highest paid in the state, according to an analysis made by AL.com. Overall, Alabama superintendents saw large salary increases over the past year, with some getting more than $50,000 in raises. (AL.com)
2. The Cahaba Valley fire district is considering increasing the amount that residents contribute to them per year, in an effort to make up operating costs. The district, which serves 25,000 residents, said it is struggling to deal with inflation. (WVTM 13)
3. The EPA is now working to put out the Moody landfill fire. They plan on placing soil on top of the fire in order to "limit the airflow that’s going into the landfill currently" and suffocate the area on flames, explained Mathew Huyser, an agency coordinator. (CBS 42)
