- Homes in Mountain Brook rank as the most expensive in all of Alabama, based on recently compiled data. The "typical home value" is estimated to be $910,816, which is a 16.7% increase from last year and 42.2% increase from five years ago. Equality, in the Talladega-Sylacauga metro area ranks second, with Vestavia Hills coming in third. (AL.com)
- The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta ruled in favor of an insurance company in a case brought by two clothing stores in Mountain Brook and Tuscaloosa claiming property damage due to COVID-19 business interruptions. “While we are disappointed, we knew it was an uphill battle from the trial court to appellate levels because of the sheer volume of COVID business interruption cases decided in favor of insurers on same or similar grounds as in our case," said attorney Ted Colquett, representing the stores. - A man, 39-year-old Jerry Jewayne Jones, has been arrested and charged with murder for the deadly shooting Friday of 35-year-old Andres James Taylor outside of a restaurant in Homewood. (WBRC 6)
