  1. A woman was held hostage by a man in Homewood at Buckingham Apartments on Friday. After a six hour standoff police succeeded in arresting the man at around 9 p.m. (WVTM 13)
  2. If you noticed smoke rising over the weekend it's because a fire broke out damaging twenty apartments in Birmingham near Mountain Brook, at 900 Golden Crest Circle off Valley Avenue on Saturday morning. The Red Cross is assisting displaced residents. No injuries were reported. (AL.com)
  3. The Birmingham World Games have already drawn to a close, and many residents believe they will have a lasting impact on the Magic City. Many locals say they had a 'once-in-a-lifetime experience' at the games, seeing sports they'd never even heard of before, like korfball. (CBS 42)
