Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:
- Guthrie's, a homegrown Alabama chicken finger and sandwiches restaurant from Auburn, is opening up a new location along US 280, in the former location of Zaxby’s. An opening date hasn't been announced yet. (Bham Now)
- Forty-seven new teachers will be joining Mountain Brook Schools this fall. New teacher orientation took place in mid-July, with each incoming instructor being paired with an experienced educator. (Mountain Brook Schools)
- Susan Downs, who works as a Gifted Specialist for Mountain Brook Schools, was named Ms. Senior Alabama 2022 in a pageant on July 23. She'll now go on to compete for the title of Ms. Senior World in Mississippi in November. "As senior women, we have the opportunity to use our life experiences, leadership, and resilience to make a positive impact in the communities where we live,” she said. (Trussvilletribune)

- The Mason Music Fest 2022 is taking place on Saturday, August 13, at Avondale Brewing Company. The owner of Mason Music, Will Mason, is a lifelong Mountain Brook resident. (Village Living)
- You can donate diapers, baby formula and wipes to 1648 Montclair Road from August 8-13 for the "world's biggest shower." (Facebook)
- Check out The SPARK Writing Festival, which will be taking place soon at University of Alabama Birmingham. There will be lots of author's talks, including local YA writer Randi Pink. (Instagram)
