MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook High School girls cross country team won the 6A state championship on Saturday morning while the boys finished in an impressive second place. The girls' title is the 175th state championship in Mountain Brook High School athletics history.
“Our girls are now officially the fastest team in state history by a good margin,” head coach Michael McGovern said. “We ran our best when it counted and saved our best races for the end.”

The Spartans landed five runners in the top 10 and all 10 Spartan runners finished in the top 60. The scoring Spartans (top five runners) averaged a time of 18:26 in the championship race.

For the boys, Davis Plowden and Clayton Collins finished within a half-second of each other in sixth and seventh place overall to secure a spot on the All-State team.
