Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:

  1. Throughout November walkers and runners will be traversing four footpaths in Vestavia Hills wearing T-shirts with veteran's names on them, while participating in Vestavia Hills Rotary Club’s annual Hike the Hill event. The shirts are in honor of Veteran's Day, which takes place on Nov. 11. Today is the last day to register to receive a shirt with a veteran's name on it. (Over The Mountain Journal)
  2. There's a cold front moving through Alabama over the next couple days, with low temperatures plunging below freezing at night. The Mountain Brook Police Department has issued a freeze watch through Oct. 20 at 9 a.m. (CBS 42)
  3. Over The Mountain Mayors, including Mountain Brook's Stewart Welch, will gather today at 6 p.m. in Vestavia Hills Town Hall for a community discussion on how to stop domestic and relationship violence. (Mayor Stewart Welch via Facebook)
