- There will be two more Mountain Brook City Council meetings held during the month of January. The next regular Council meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 p.m., and a special meeting will be held the following week, Jan. 30, at 5:00 p.m. Agendas are not yet available for either event, but will be posted on this page when finalized. - The Mountain Brook Police Department has announced its next Citizen's Handgun Familiarization Course, to be held on Mar. 4, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants must be 21 or older and will learn more about handgun safety, handling, and operation from law enforcement professionals. - As of Thursday evening, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating 36-year-old Courtney Michele Williams, a local woman who was last seen on Tuesday, Jan. 17 on Jade Lake Road. Officials say Williams, who has autism, may be walking in the Clay/Palmerdale area, about 30 minutes outside of Mountain Brook. She is described as a 5'4" white female with brown eyes and hair who weighs around 125 pounds. Anyone who has seen Williams or has any information regarding her whereabouts should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1450, option 2.

- Best of luck to the Mountain Brook wrestling team as they face off in the state championship finals this morning against Mortimer Jordan! The team has had decisive victories in the first round (38-21 against McAdory), quarterfinals (33-26 against Homewood), and semi-finals (41-22 against Wetumpka) thus far. (The News Courier)

- The O'Neal Library is doing another Alabama Symphony Orchestra ticket giveaway for Grieg's Piano Concerto performances on Jan. 27 and 28. The library will give away four tickets for each of the three showings (Friday matinee and Friday and Saturday evenings).
