- Three individuals killed in a crash in western Jefferson County on Jun. 17 have been identified as Josiah Louis Phillips, Anna Catherine Meyers, and Ashley Nicole Michelle Wyatt. The crash occurred when the driver, Phillips, lost control of a Honda Civic during a curve, causing the vehicle to come to rest down a ravine. The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. (AL.com)
- Community organizations in Central Alabama came together over Father's Day weekend to address the ongoing issue of gun violence. Events were held at the Daniel Payne Community Plaza and Holy Family Catholic Church in nearby Birmingham, where people gathered to discuss and pray for an end to the recent wave of violence. Attendees stressed the importance of taking action and finding effective conflict resolution strategies to prevent violent incidents in the community. (WVTM 13 News)
- Kentrel Jah'mar Miller, a 16-year-old male, was fatally shot in a parking lot of a Fairfield mall in Jefferson County. He was approached by three masked individuals who shot at him before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777 or the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (205) 325-1450, option 2.
