Junior High Scholars' Bowl Team Headed to State Tournament
The Mountain Brook Junior High scholars' bowl team earned a spot in the this year's state tournament.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook Junior High scholars' bowl team is on its way to the state tournament after wins during four rounds of intensive competition in the District Tournament Jan. 22.
Scholars’ bowl is a game in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge — including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports and more.
The MBJH team of Bryson Dobbins, James Puckett, Jack Roesle and Gus Troncale, soundly defeated Brookwood Middle, Liberty Park, Simmons Middle, and Thompson Middle at the District Tournament at Spain Park High School.

In addition to defeating several teams in local play, this squad captured 2nd place at the Middle School Alabama Scholars Bowl in Montgomery. Mountain Brook matches are scheduled to air on Alabama Public Television (APTV) on Feb. 12, April 2, April 9, May 7, May 14, and May 21.
This year’s State Tournament will be held Feb. 26. The team is coached by MBJH Latin teacher, Micheal Posey.
