Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:

1. An 86-year-old man was killed in a two-way crash on U.S. 280 in Shelby County, two miles from Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. The person who crashed into him was a woman from Mountain Brook. The incident is being investigated by the Alabama State Troopers. (AL.com)
2. Traffic is expected to pick up with the start of school classes this week. Police and School Resource Officers will be directing traffic through school zones during pickup and drop-off times. (CBS 42)
3. The Mountain Brook Police Department's non-emergency phone number was temporarily out of service on Monday morning. 911 continued to be operational and the line was restored shortly after 10 a.m. (Twitter)
