- The "Over The Mountain" Mayors of Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Homewood and Hoover are planning on holding a joint domestic violence forum titled "Protecting Teens and Young Adults from Dating Violence," at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center on October 18. (280 Living)
- Jefferson County officials are considering consolidating the area's 911 response services into a single call center. Many towns and cities have their own dispatch center right now, which has led to confusion in the past with individuals' calls being sent to the wrong area and needing to be transferred. Mountain Brook's 911 services were managed by Shelby County as of last year. (WVTM 13)
- As of Thursday, Alabama businesses are able to request applications for the sale of medicinal marijuana. Licenses could be given out as early as June 2023. (CBS 42)
