Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:
1. Mountain Brook High School's School Resource Officer Richard Kinecht traveled to Mobile on Friday to participate in a realistic active-shooter training, following the deadly shooting in Uvalde, Texas. "You're sitting in a classroom and someone comes in, do you barricade the door? Do you throw things at them? Do you do this? Do you try to go out the window? There are so many different avenues it's very difficult to teach because remember the situation is fluid," Kinecht said. (WVTM 13)
2. Authorities are investigating three shootings in Birmingham over the weekend – a 22-year-old in Midfield, a 24-year-old man on Beacon Parkway East and a 43-year-old man in Gate City public housing. (WVTM 13)
3. For the first time in 20 years the Alabama Libertarian Party is running a slate of candidates up and down the ballot across the state this November. Every Congress member has a challenger, including in District 6, where it looks like Andria Chieffo may be running against Gary Palmer. Also on the ballot is former Auburn University professor John Sophocleus, running for U.S. Senate. (AL.com)
