Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:
- Mountain Brook High School student Julianne Abenoja was the 1st runner-up in the final competition for Distinguished Young Woman 2022 in Mobile, winning a $20,000 college scholarship. She came in second to Katelyn Cai from Scottsdale, Arizona. See photos from Abenoja's ballet performance here. (AL.com)
- An American flag relay in the weeks leading up to the World Games in Birmingham is underway. The flag just reached Alabama after beginning in Washington, D.C. on May 25. On July 6, it's expected to arrive in Hoover at 1 p.m., before venturing through Vestavia Hills and Homewood on the last leg to Birmingham. (WVTM 13)
- An 18-year-old, Jaylan Bloxom, was fatally shot on Saturday evening in the Gate City neighborhood of Birmingham–not too far from Crestline. Authorities say he had gotten into a dispute with an unidentified suspect. (CBS 42)
