MBJH Spanish Teacher Receives Statewide Recognition

A Mountain Brook Junior High School teacher was recently named the 2022 Alabama World Languages Association Promising New Teacher.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — A Mountain Brook teacher recently received a prestigious statewide honor, as MBJH Spanish teacher Sydney Dismukes was named the 2022 Alabama World Languages Association Promising New Teacher.

Dismukes received this award by way of a nomination and recommendation letter from her colleague and Fullbright teacher, Michael Posey.

“I am so, so grateful to be part of a department and a school system that helps me become a better teacher for my students each day,” Dismukes said.

She was recognized at the January Mountain Brook Board of Education meeting.

“If anyone was ever deserving of a Promising New Teacher Award it is Mrs. Dismukes,” MBJH principal Donald Clayton said. “Her ability to impact students and her desire for educational growth is special. She is early in her career but she is already a highly effective teacher. We’re fortunate to have her at MBJH.”
