Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:

  1. The Jefferson County Commission has now officially committed $5 million in funding to building a new amphitheater near Protective Stadium that will seat up to 9,000 people. Just one commissioner voted against the funding, raising concerns over the "lack of community improvement pledges by the developer." (WVTM 13)
  2. Lice is on the rise across Central Alabama, including locally in Mountain Brook and Crestline, according to Casey Pylant, who owns Lice Clinics Of Birmingham. Some of them are what's called "super lice" that become resistant to treatments over the counter. (WBRC 6)
  3. Runners will participate in the final Mercedes marathon to be held in Birmingham this weekend, after 20 years in the city. Festivities already began on Friday. (WBRC 6)
