Here are the top four stories today in Mountain Brook:

  1. Mountain Brook High School's football team beat James Clemens 42-21 on Friday evening, with six different Spartans scoring touchdowns. Both teams are now headed to region play, with Mountain Brook in Class 6A. (AL.com)
  2. Mountain Brook could soon be better connected via public transit with Birmingham and other cities in the 'Over The Mountain' area. In 2019 the city created a 'microtransit zone' that connects residents using neighborhood-friendly shuttle busses and vans. Alabama is one of the few states that doesn't have state government funding allocated to public transit. (Village Living)
  3. Four men with ties to Mountain Brook were inducted into the Birmingham Business Hall of Fame on August 25. They are Jernigan Sr., the creator of a furniture manufacturer; brothers David and John Wood; and Claude Nielsenm, who was the chairman of the American Beverage Association and The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. (Village Living)
  4. Some local vendors who sold their merchandise or services at the World Games this summer say they didn't make nearly as much profit as they were hoping for. One vendor, Tracey Kennedy, was hoping to make $35,000 and ultimately only made $3,000. "We couldn’t control the hot weather, daily attendance in The Plaza, and other factors including public interest," the Birmingham Organizing Committee added in a statement. (6 WBRC)
