- The Mountain Brook City Council approved the city's budget for fiscal year 2023 at its last meeting. The budget comes out to $50 million including general projects, capital funds and debt services, with a budget surplus of $180,000. (Village Living)
- More than 50 local organizations will be present at a resource fair in Birmingham's Central Library on Oct. 1, which will have information on jobs, free health screening, affordable housing, housing assistance and more. (Village Living)
- Mountain Brook's Sol y Luna Tapas & Tequilas, a proudly Mexican (and not 'Tex-Mex') restaurant opened by Jorge Castro is profiled in a feature story for Alabama NewsCenter. The restaurant, which opened in 1998, aims to source as many of its ingredients and food products directly from Mexico. For one example, "instead of endless chips and salsa and piles of nachos and chimichangas on shredded lettuce, you will find crabmeat enchiladas with a chile guajillo sauce and fresh slaw." - The roadway at roadway at 3669 Northcote Drive will be closed for approximately two weeks for "important improvements," according to the police department. (Mountain Brook Police Department)
- The Jefferson County Sheriff's office has announced that it is adding new devices to its patrol cars that will assist with chest compression during CPR, in addition to autism kits. (CBS 42)
