  1. The City of Mountain Brook will be holding municipal elections to fill three City Council positions on August 23. Those interested in running have until June 28 to qualify. Currently two incumbents, Lloyd Shelton and Billy Pritchard, are running for re-election, while Alice Womack is not, leaving one seat empty. So far, Graham Smith, a member of the Mountain Brook Planning Council, is qualified to run. (Village Living)
  2. In addition to providing four police officers to assist Birmingham during the World Games, Mountain Brook is partnering with Homewood to put up welcoming signs along U.S. 280 for drivers entering The Magic City. The police department's also planning to add up to 14 vehicles to its fleet. (Village Living)
  3. Last week, according to reports, anti-Semitic flyers were distributed in several Mountain Brook neighborhoods, causing the city to release the following statement: “Based on the recent events of Antisemitic literature being distributed in our neighborhoods, we would like to go on record saying The City of Mountain Brook unequivocally stands against Antisemitism of any kind in our community.”(City of Mountain Brook)
