MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — As Mountain Brook continues to address infrastructural improvement, the city council meeting on Oct. 23 opened with a discussion on potential intersection improvements.

The city, in conjunction with Skipper Consulting, is exploring different high priority intersections to be studied for future funding through and APPLE grant. The 11 intersections that have been isolated for study will be analyzed for blind spots, signage, pedestrian traffic and crossings, turn lane additions and other means of reducing traffic and congestion.

The proposed intersections are as follows:

The council then moved to its regular agenda for the night, holding a public hearing on the vacation of the cul-de-sac at the west end of Ridge Crest Road. The cul-de-sac was previously divided between the city and a private owner. The city and private owner have agreed to accept in-kind services as payment for the vacation of the cul-de-sac. The vacation should alleviate parking and trash issues the neighborhood has reported in the area.

The council also approved a traffic study by Skipper Consulting for the Overton Road condos, which should help the council make a final decision on the proposed property.

Other orders of business included:

-Approval of the minutes of the Oct. 9 meeting.

-Review of the Chamber of Commerce's semi-annual report.

-Review of the bid for library roof repairs

-Resolution appointing an uncompensated member to the Parks and Recreation Board to serve through Jan. 9, 2021.
