Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:

  1. Mountain Brook's schools are getting a $500,000 donation from the Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation. That's the largest donation in the foundation's 30-year history. It will be used for "technology, library enhancement, and professional development." (Twitter)
  2. Pet owners arrived at Mountain Brook's latest City Council meeting, upset by the prospect that they could be banned from walking their dogs in city fields and certain sidewalks. Some suggested that a penalty should only be put on the owners that don't clean up after their dogs' waste. (Village Living)
  3. The Birmingham City Council voted to pay the committee that held the World Games $5 million, after they informed the city of a $14 million deficit in revenue. The shortfall was reportedly due to a vendor pulling out and a spike in COVID-19 cases during the games. (CBS 42)
  4. Mountain Brook Magazine spoke with Jorg Wesche, the general manager for Habitat Feed & Social, the elegant restaurant inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook. The hotel and restaurant, which opened in 2015, "is bathed in European, floral elements with bold colors and oversized chairs, custom designed carpets and lighting that reflects neighboring Birmingham Botanical Gardens’ vibrant grounds." (Mountain Brook Magazine)
