Members of the Mountain Brook City Council discussed in its last meeting the role of a first responder's foundation that would provide support to individual police officers and fire fighters, while the bulk of the departments would still be funded through the city. The Council also discussed addressing drainage issues, among other topics. (Village Living)

The father of a University of Alabama graduate, who's death is believed to be due to a cocaine overdose that was laced with fentanyl, is speaking out about his son's memory, describing him as "an independent young man." The man from Mountain Brook accused of giving his son the drugs is facing criminal charges. The father, Bob Gleason, said he's now learning how fentanyl overdoses have affected the lives of many families in Jefferson County and across the country. (WBRC)

The Mountain Brook Police Department is offering a one-night class on how to respond to an Active Shooter Event, which it describes as "perfect for church congregations, school employees, those who work in corporate offices, and the general public!"
